The 229th Avn Bn has had great pride and history over the years, that she served in the Vietnam War. The 229th went over to Vietnam in 1965 and was part of the 11th Avn. I later had the honor of serving with her in 1971-72 as a SP/4 Doorgunner on a UH-1H . The 229th was re-formed in April of 1971 and was called The 229th AHB- 1st Air Cav Div 3rd Brg.(Separate), and was part of Task Force "Garry Owens". We were now based out of Bien Hoa, in III Corps.
